Ulisses Marreiros has been the Head of Operations for Belmond in Brazil since January 2024, a role he also combines with that of General Manager, which he has held since January 2021, at the iconic Copacabana Palace, Belmond’s flagship property in South America. Belmond owns and operates 46 business units worldwide, including trains, river cruises, restaurants, and hotels in 23 countries. Since April 2019, this collection of luxury hotels and exceptional experiences has been part of the world’s largest luxury conglomerate, LVMH.
Ulisses Marreiros was transferred from the exclusive La Residencia in Mallorca, where he served as General Manager from 2013 to 2020. He also held the position of General Manager at the majestic Reid’s Palace in Madeira for 3 years, starting as Resident Manager in July 2008, responsible for all operational aspects of the property. He spent nearly 3 years in the Algarve at the idyllic Vila Vita Parc as Director of Sales & Marketing. Prior to that, he participated in the pre-opening and opening phases of the award-winning One & Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives as Sales Manager, with a strong involvement in operations. Ulisses began his career in luxury hospitality at another renowned property in the Algarve, Hotel Quinta do Lago, then owned by Orient-Express (now Belmond), starting with an internship in the commercial department and subsequently working in reception, reservations, golf desk, night audit, banquets, service management, promotion, and sales management. He also interned at Iberotel Club Praia da Rocha, gaining experience in bars, restaurants, and food and beverage control, and worked for two seasons at TAP Air Portugal as a traffic officer and special assistance.
Ulisses holds a degree in Hotel Management from the University of Algarve. He is passionate about continuous education and has completed various professional updates, courses, and seminars relevant to the industry. His credentials include an Executive General Management program from INSEAD, a leadership course from Bocconi University in Milan, a professional course in leadership development and strategic hotel management, the General Managers program from Cornell University, a postgraduate diploma in hotel management from INESP/ADHP, and the HarvardManageMentor online course from Harvard Business School, among others.
