Sofia Santos leads the development and implementation of strategic growth initiatives for the Retail Banking and Preferred Banking lines of business at Bank of America.
With a focus on responsible growth and competitive differentiation, Sofia’s organization includes our Strategy & Business Ventures team, Business Acceleration team and Competitive Intelligence team. Strategy & Business Ventures partners with the business to drive an optimal client experience through innovation, strategic ventures and portfolio management. Business Acceleration designs, tests, and implements tactics that fundamentally evolve the way that we operate within Retail, Preferred and Small Business. Competitive Intelligence focuses on tracking market trends and competitors, gaining insights into potential competitive advantage opportunities to explore.
Sofia is the Executive Co-Sponsor of the Parents and Caregivers Employee Network (PCN), and shares their mission to create a supportive environment for Bank of America employees with children and other caregiving responsibilities. She also serves as the Sarasota/Manatee Market Sponsor.
Prior to joining Bank of America, Sofia was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, specializing in Wealth and Asset Management, Life Insurance, and Corporate and Commercial Banking. Sofia has led multiple leadership initiatives, including mentoring women in the financial services industry, leading MBA recruiting initiatives and serving in multiple performance management committees during her McKinsey tenure.
Sofia earned her MBA from Columbia Business School and also holds a Master of Applied Mathematics degree from Universidad do Porto, Portugal.
Sofia grew up in Portugal and spent several years in Latin America, mostly in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She currently lives in New York City with her husband and four children.
Sofia is a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2022.
