Sérgio Pimenta is Vice-President of International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the Middle East and Africa, overseeing all investment and advisory operations in a region with more than 600 staff.
He was previously Global Director for Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Services, and Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific at IFC, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining the World Bank Group through its Young Professionals Program in 1996, Sérgio Pimenta worked for the Treasury Department of the French Ministry of Finance, and for Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) in Paris.
He holds an engineering degree from the École Polytechnique, Paris, and a post-graduate degree from the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris.
Sérgio Pimenta is a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since 2018.
