Rui Lima Miranda is one of the two founders of Watermelon Productions – the largest animation producer in Portugal, where he serves as CEO and Producer. In addition to Watermelon, Rui is also a Business Angel in five start-ups.

Portuguese, married, and father of four, Rui graduated in Business Management and Administration from the Portuguese Catholic University and later completed the Program for Management Development (now “General Management Program”) at Harvard, USA. While still a university student, he won the national level “Global Management” competition, finishing second in the international competition.

He began his professional career in marketing at Procter & Gamble, where he managed the Neoblanc and Tide brands. During this period, he established a partnership with United Colors of Benetton that was later replicated and expanded to all Procter & Gamble markets in Europe.

He then continued at the Media Capital group, where he was responsible for the rebranding of TVI and the launch of the station’s first major fiction productions, including the first Big Brother. As Marketing Director, he led the launch of the IOL portal, its channels, and internet access services.

At Sociedade Central de Cervejas, he took on the leadership of the Beer Marketing and Innovation Department, where he restructured the brand portfolio, relaunched the Sagres brand, and launched new beers, such as Sagres Zero and Bohemia, behind campaigns featuring Pierce Brosnan, among others. He was awarded two “Marketing Effectiveness” awards by the Portuguese Advertisers Association (APAN).

One day, the desire to venture out spoke louder, and Rui decided it was time to embark on entrepreneurship. Since then, his life has been marked by the drive to do better and go further, and by the freedom to believe and take risks.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Rui is also an active member of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity of the Catholic Church, Mentor at Start-up Lisboa, and a member of the Harvard Club of Portugal and PALCUS.org, an organization that promotes the interests of Portuguese-Americans and relations between Portugal and the USA.

Rui Lima Miranda has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since May 2024.
