Ricardo Caliço, CEO of Caixa Geral de Depósitos France, has been working in Paris since 2018 and has always worked in the financial market. He has professional experience in four countries (Portugal – 15 years, USA – 4 years, South Africa – 4 years and France – 5 years). Over the last 15 years he has held C-level positions in Asset Management, Corporate Banking and Retail/Company Banking.
During the eurozone sovereign crisis, he was General Manager of Caixa Geral de Depósitos’ wholesale unit in New York (2010-2014), dealing with the financing and regulatory difficulties arising from that period. After 2014 he moved to South Africa to a subsidiary of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Group, dedicated to Retail/Corporate Banking with the aim of developing the business and then selling the bank.
The bank was successfully sold in 2018. At the end of 2018, he moved to France to transform and expand Caixa Geral de Depósitos’ retail/company banking operation, consisting of 48 branches, around 550 employees and assets of €3.3 billion.
Ricardo has a degree in Economics from Nova Business School (1995) and a postgraduate degree in financial markets and assets from ISCTE Business School (1996).
Ricardo Caliço has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2023.
