Ricardo Baptista Leite is CEO of ‘HealthAI – Global Agency for Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare’, a non-profit foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. He took up his post in May 2023 following an international recruitment process.
Founder and President of the UNITE Parliamentarians Network for Global Health, a global network of current and former legislators from parliaments, congresses and senates, present in more than 105 countries, in partnership with the World Health Organization. Chair of the Harvard-Charité Global Health Policy Lab, an academic center based in Berlin that is the result of collaboration between Harvard University (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Health Systems Performance Lab) and the Charité University of Berlin (University Medicine Berlin, Center for Global Health). Former member of the Portuguese Parliament (4 terms, 2011-2023) and former vice-president of the Parliamentary Group of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). He was the PSD’s front-runner for the Lisbon constituency in the 2021 legislative elections.
A doctor trained in infectious diseases, with almost a decade of clinical practice. He returned to clinical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic as a volunteer doctor at Cascais Hospital between 2020-2021. As part of a humanitarian mission, he provided medical support as a volunteer at the Lviv Regional Hospital in Ukraine in the summer of 2022 after the invasion by the Russian Federation. Postgraduate studies completed at several academic institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Medical School.
Ricardo Baptista Leite has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since February 2024.
