Paulo Varela has been the CEO of Galp Moçambique since 2015, currently residing in the country. Graduated in Law, with a specialization in legal-business sciences, he attended programs in Strategic Management and Value Creation at the School of Business and Economics of the Catholic University of Lisbon, as well as the PADE (Program for Senior Management) at AESE. With over 30 years of international experience, Paulo Varela has held management positions in various areas at Visabeira SA Group, in countries such as Angola, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Belgium, France, and Germany. Between 2009 and 2014, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vista Alegre Atlantis SA.

Paulo Varela has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since May 2024.
