Paulo Sousa has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Welding Technology Engineering from the University of Porto, and also has a specialization course in Organization and Management from the Catholic University of Portugal.

He began his career as Technical-Commercial Director at Electro-Portugal, later moving to Grupo Proef where he has held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO since 1991.
Paulo Sousa is also a member of the Executive Board of the Association for the Technical Qualification of the Energy Sector, a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Minho and Vice-President of the Business Association of Baixo Ave.
