With a degree in Business Management and Administration, he has worked at Philip Morris International for 25 years, holding various leadership positions in different countries. The last few years have been the most challenging and interesting, having successfully led the company in several countries towards a transformation based on science and technology, with the introduction of reduced-risk products that are better alternatives for smokers who decide to continue using nicotine products.

Miguel Matos began his professional career at EY in 1997. He joined Tabaqueira (a PMI affiliate) in 1998. His career began in Finance, having held various positions in different countries, including Switzerland and the Czech Republic, and taking on the position of Chief Financial Officer in 2013. In 2016 he took on the role in Spain of Managing Director for the Canary Islands Region and in 2017 he was appointed Managing Director of Tabaqueira, leading the company’s activities in the Portuguese market.

In January 2021 he took up the position of Managing Director PMI Benelux, responsible for the 3 markets of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. His main objective is to lead PMI Benelux in building an ambitious Smoke-Free Future.

Miguel Ferreira Matos has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since February 2024.
