Mafalda Borea is a global leader in sustainable development, gender equality, and innovation.
Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Mafalda Borea FRSA is the Head of Partnerships & Philanthropy at UN Women UK and the Global Head of Partnerships & Institutional Relations at E-GAP, a company advancing the development of Smarter Cities through off-grid renewable energy storage solutions.
She is part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) One Planet Network working group and co-funded Sustainable First™, a platform that promotes sustainable tourism destinations that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mafalda sits on the boards of the TravelIndex Group and the Travel & Tourism Foundation, and is a Contributing Sustainability Editor for Voyages Afriq Magazine, where she advocates for responsible and impactful tourism in Africa.
Previously, she led CNN’s advertising sales across Southern Europe and the CIS region, and her passion for Chinese culture led her to study Mandarin, culminating in a role as Deputy Editor of China Report Magazine.
Her work focuses on creating meaningful partnerships that drive gender equality, sustainability, and social impact. As a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), she is committed to mentoring women in business and supporting initiatives that empower disadvantaged communities. In addition to her professional roles, Mafalda volunteers with the Sant’Egidio charity, which mediates peace and provides support to vulnerable communities in conflict zones and does homeless outreach work in main European cities.
She lives between Rome and London with her husband, and their 12year old twin boys.
Mafalda Borea has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2024.
