Leila Couto, a Portuguese-Canadian, was born in Canada and moved to Portugal when she was still a child, where she studied and completed her Law Degree (between 2003 and 2008) and her Master’s Degree in General Law (between 2009 and 2011), both at the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto, Portugal.

She has been practicing law in Portugal for more than 16 years, duly registered with the Portuguese Bar Association.

In 2013 she returned to Toronto, Canada, where she co-founded, chairs and runs Luso Services & Consulting Inc., a company dedicated to supporting the Portuguese community in Canada that has business in Portugal and the Canadian community that wants to invest in Portugal, through legal advice and services.

Between 2020 and 2021, completed the Canadian Law Immigration Consultancy Course at CDI College in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, becoming a member of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).

In 2021, founded the company Leila Couto Immigration & Citizenship Services Inc, which specializes in immigration processes to Canada, serving clients from Portugal and other parts of the world.

Leila Couto has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since April 2024.
