João Quelhas da Costa, is General Manager of Mabe International, the international business unit of Controladora Mabe SA de CV (JV General Electric Appliances), a Mexican multinational manufacturer of household appliances, leader in the Americas, with annual revenues of over $6.5Bi USD.

He has more than 20 years’ professional experience in international business management and development, product management, marketing and operations in multinational companies, as well as in the areas of international strategy and cooperation, foreign trade promotion and investment attraction.

In addition to other roles at Mabe, such as Head of Commercial Strategy & Product Management or GM EMEA, João Quelhas has also worked at other organizations such as CNN International Commercial, the Institute for International Strategic Studies (IEEI) or the Arab-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIAP). After living in Lisbon, London and Dubai, he has been living in Mexico since 2019.

João Quelhas da Costa has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since September 2024.
