João Pedro Taborda is Vice President for Government Affairs in Europe at the aerospace multinational Embraer. The company currently has its regional headquarters in Amsterdam, and João Taborda is responsible for government affairs, with an emphasis on public policies with an impact on the Group, including in the European Union environment.
He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, where he also obtained a Master’s degree in Technology Management and Engineering Policies, specialising in the topic of economic compensation associated with public procurement. In 2018 he completed a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations at the Diplomatic School of Geneva, GSD, specialising in the topic of Humanitarian Aviation.
Since 2006, he has been involved in the team that conducted the negotiations with the Portuguese government that resulted in the installation in Évora, in 2012, of two new factories for the construction of segments in materials and composite materials for Embraer products.
He also worked on the team that studied the feasibility and announced in February 2014 the establishment in Évora of Embraer’s Engineering and Technology Centre in Europe, the second of its kind outside Brazil.
Later, as a member of OGMA’s Executive Board, he worked between 2019 and 2023 on the project to set up a new Authorised Centre in Alverca for the maintenance of new generation aircraft engines.
In addition to public policy issues, he coordinates political-institutional activities in support of Embraer’s sales campaigns with public clients such as the Armed Forces and state-owned airlines.
João is a Visiting Assistant Professor at ISEG, and has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since 2014, where he has been a member of the current management team since 2021.
