Today, João Paulo da Silva serves as a Senior Advisor for KPMG, Prosegur, and various Private Equity firms.
Prior to this, he enjoyed a distinguished career at SAP, holding numerous leadership roles in Marketing, Channels, and Sales teams across the EMEA region. He concluded his tenure in 2023 as the Senior Vice President & General Manager for the Southern Europe region, leading 1000 professionals and generating approximately 1 billion euros in revenue. He was a key member of the SAP Global Extended Leadership Team and also served on the SAP EMEA South Regional Executive Board.
He has been part of the Portuguese Diaspora since December 2021. Recently, he also took on the role of Counselor at FORETICA, the Spanish Business Council for Sustainable Development (ESG), under the honorary presidency of His Majesty King Philip VI.
Since 2014, he has been an active member of the YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) and is a co-founder of Think Tank ID29, a platform dedicated to discussing Board and Governance issues.
João Paulo kickstarted his career as an entrepreneur, co-founding a services company serving to the IT and Farming industries in Portugal during the 1990s. Throughout his career, he has lived in Lisbon, Milan, Barcelona, and currently resides in Madrid. He is fluent in five languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, and French, although he admits his French is a bit rusty.
In terms of education, he recently started the Presidents Program at Harvard Business School with YPO in 2024. He holds an MSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from U.B.I. (Portugal), along with postgraduate qualifications in Marketing from Universidade Católica (Portugal), Business Management from ESADE (Spain), and has earned certifications as a NED by INSEAD (France) and in Transformational Leadership by IMD Business School (Switzerland).
João Paulo da Silva is a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2021.
