Senior Strategy & Corporate Development Manager at FIFA since 2018 focused on the business and governance global landscape of the football industry.

Member of the Executive Office at the Portuguese Football Federation from 2015 to 2018.

Awarded the UEFA Certificate of Merit (2017) and the best sports management project award in Spain delivered by CIES (2015).

Holds a bachelor in Management and Business Administration (Universidade Catolica Portuguesa) and has extensive and proven knowledge in the football industry in diverse areas such as: global sports governance, media rights, business analytics, football law and digital transformation.

Since 2021 Joao is also the President of the UEFA Academy Alumni Association Board.

Appointed and currently undertaking a Leaders Executive Programme driven by UEFA (MESGO Executive Global Sports Governance 2022/2024).

He was also invited to Chair the ‘2023 Think Tank’ related to Sports promoted by Jornal de Negocios.

João Fonseca has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since September 2023.
