João Félix da Silva was the Executive Chairman of the John Cockerill Industry Group for 6 years, and is the current President’s Advisor to the group, since 2022. Félix da Silva is also a member of the Executive Committee of the CMI Group, which has around 4,500 employees and is present in Africa, Brazil, China, Europe, India, New Caledonia, Russia and the United States.
He served as the Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Méditerranée, being responsible for the factories of “Fos sur Mer” and “St Chély d’Apcher”, in France, and for the factories of “Piombino”, in Italy.
He holds a Master’s degree in Electronics from the Institut Supérieur Industriel du Hainaut (Belgium), a Master’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the Institut Supérieur des Ingénieurs Techniciens de Charleroi (Belgium) and a Master’s degree in Management from the Ecole de Perfectionnement au Management (Belgium).
João Félix da Silva is also administrator of CRM, a research steel center in Belgium and President of CMIFPE, an Indian company listed on the stock exchange.
He started his career in Belgium where he executed various technical and directive positions and today he has more than 35 years of experience on the steel industry.
He is a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since 2014.
