João Bettencourt Machado is a Partner at Deloitte and currently serves as the Country Managing Partner in Mozambique, where he has been responsible for the entire operation of the office since 2013. João began his career at Deloitte in Portugal and, over the past 24 years, has held various leadership positions across several African countries, including Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, and Angola.

In Mozambique, in addition to managing Deloitte’s operations, he oversees key client relationships in the financial and oil and gas sectors. João has extensive experience in organizational transformation programs, corporate strategy, business restructuring, human capital management, and change management.

He holds a degree in Labor Sociology with a specialization in Strategic Human Resources Planning from the Institute of Social and Political Sciences at the Technical University of Lisbon. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in South Africa.

João Machado has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2024.
