Joana Almeida e Sousa leads the Public Policy and Economic Development Area at Amazon Studios in Mexico and Latin America. Before taking on this new role, and for the past 5 years, Joana led the Public Policy area at Amazon in Brazil. Joana began her career at Amazon coming from Telefónica, where she was a Regulatory Affairs Consultant. Prior to Telefónica, Joana worked at the law firm Bialer & Falsetti (BFA), where she dealt with Public Policies related to the internet, media, and telecommunications and advised BFA’s clients. Before that, she worked at the European Commission, in DG CONNECT (formerly DG INFSO). Joana started her work at the European Commission after working at the law firm Vieira de Almeida, where she worked in the Telecommunications, Media, and IT department. Joana holds a Law degree from the University of Coimbra.
