Inês is Managing Director of the Banco Europeu para Reconstrução e Desenvolvimento, a development bank based in London, where Portugal is also a shareholder.
With almost 25 years’ experience in the financial industry and in development banking, Inês currently leads a team of more than 100 people in the area of grants and project evaluation in relation to impact, including environmental, social inclusion and ESG aspects. Previously, Inês was a Director in the BERD’s SME Finance and Development department, specializing in advisory and investment products for small and medium-sized enterprises, including a programme promoting women-led SMEs in emerging countries. Inês began her career at the BERD as a member of the Treasury team in 2005 in the area of structuring local currency transactions for emerging countries. Subsequently, Ines also worked in the BERD’s Financial Institutions team on capital markets and structured products.
Inês also worked in investment banking in London in the capital markets area in the Southern Europe region (including Portugal) at UBS Investment Bank.
Before moving to London, where she has lived for over 20 years, Inês worked for the Banco de Portugal in the International Relations Department in Lisbon.
A dual Portuguese and English national, Inês has a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a degree in Economics from the Faculdade de Economia do Porto.
Inês Rocha has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since September 2023.
