Graciete boasts an extensive career spanning over 30 years within the construction industry. Originally hailing from Portugal, her decision to relocate to Australia in 1987 remains one of her most pivotal and rewarding choices. Despite facing numerous challenges during her upbringing, which included attending eight different schools, Graciete honed a remarkable level of adaptability.
She currently holds directorial positions at Pacific Formwork Pty Ltd, Precast Projects, and Formcast, enterprises established by her family and presently managed by the younger generation. Her fervent dedication to safety in construction and advocacy for increased female participation led to groundbreaking milestones in her career. Graciete was elected as the inaugural female and subcontractor President of Master Builders ACT, marking a significant achievement. Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the first woman appointed to the MBA National Board, where she currently chairs their national Finance committee. Alongside her roles in various construction, training, and safety-related organizations, Graciete actively contributes to community-based boards like the PCYC board and presently serves as the president of the Canberra Portuguese Association.
Driven by a commitment to give back to her adopted community, Graciete actively participates in fundraising initiatives and awareness campaigns. Her resilience and determination were evidenced through her multiple participations in the CEO sleepout and the challenging completion of the Oxfam 50km trail walk in 2022.
Graciete’s unwavering contributions and accomplishments have garnered recognition, including prestigious awards such as the NAWIC (ACT) Crystal Vision Award and the esteemed Order of Merit Gold Medal presented by the Portuguese Government.
Graciete Ferreira has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2023.
