Gonçalo Orvalho is currently the Managing Director and Head of Banking, Multinationals and Collaboration Revenues, UK Corporate & Investment Banking, since September 2020.

Gonçalo started his banking career in Portugal more than 20 years ago, after taking a Business degree in Nova Scholl of Business and Economics (Portugal). He previously worked in Madrid, before joining the London market in 2009. He has held several roles in the Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking areas, with a focus on local and complex clients across several sectors – namely: Real Estate, Gaming, PUBs, Utilities, Construction, Support Services and Housebuilding. In more recent years, he has focused also on Multinational companies with subsidiaries in Europe.

He is FCA-approved, holding the CF30 qualification.

Gonçalo is an expert at balancing the requirements of a wide range of stakeholders, demonstrating sound judgement.

He has experience in working and managing teams under significant organisational change and has excellent risk management skills. He was actively involved in the creation of Santander UK Corporate Regional Centres, the Large Corporates team within Santander UK Corporate & Investment Banking, the UK Multinationals Team and more recently the Banking Team.
