Francisco Semião is an executive-level professional with more than 20 years of experience in health administration, nonprofit management, domestic policy and international relations. Francisco holds graduate degrees from George Washington University’s School of Public Health and Marymount University’s School of Business.
During his career, Francisco has held positions overseeing successful grant proposal submissions and appropriations requests totaling more than $90 million, managed numerous advocacy and community health initiatives, facilitated numerous B2B, B2C and B2G opportunities related to social enterprises, and coordinated government and regulatory affairs efforts at the state and federal levels.
In 2008, Francisco created the National Organization of Luso-Americans. During his ten-year tenure as president and founding board member, he made significant strides in improving advocacy efforts in the areas of immigration, trade and expatriate voting representation on behalf of the Portuguese-American community and strengthening the relationship between the United States and Portugal.
Over the years, Francisco has served as a recurring political analyst for Spanish and Portuguese media. Francisco currently serves as Regional Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs for MedStar Health, the largest health system in the Washington, DC area. In addition, he is also a member of the advisory board of Mentor Foundation USA, a member of the alumni advisory board of Marymount University, and was appointed in 2022 by Governor Glenn Younkin to the Virginia Workforce Development Board.
Francisco Semião has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2023.
