Since the end of 2022, Filipe de Sá Pessoa has been Head of Development at AXA Investment Managers, Europe’s largest real estate asset manager, managing large-scale real estate projects in Germany.
He was born in 1982 in Lisbon, Portugal. He graduated in Architecture from the Lusíada University of Lisbon in 2006. In 2007, he did an internship at João Paciência Arquitetos, working for the next three years with Eduardo Souto de Moura, first in Porto and then in Lisbon.
In 2011, he moved to London where he completed a Master’s degree in Real Estate Investment at Cass Business School. During this time, he became involved with the Cass Real Estate Club and met Gilberto Jordan, who introduced him to the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
In 2013, he moved to Hamburg and quickly rose to head of acquisitions for DC Developments in Germany, also becoming Managing Director of the DCR & HDC Developments joint venture in Comporta, Portugal. In 2018, he was invited to lead real estate development at MPC Capital, where he developed one of Germany’s first sustainable real estate funds.
He is married, has two children and lives in Hamburg with his family, maintaining a strong bond with the local Portuguese community.
Filipe de Sá Pessoa has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since May 2024.
