Artistic director and creator of major events. Experienced in artistic direction, career management, national and international marketing, production direction, and musical and literary editing.
Born in Portugal and based in Brazil, she had a significant tenure at Warner Music from 1984 to 1991, working in copyright and international marketing.
In 1992, she founded the record label, publishing house, and production company Natasha, introducing major names from the independent English and American music scenes to Brazil, launching several Brazilian artists, and playing a strong role in Brazilian and international soundtracks.
Natasha Publishing managed catalogs of composers such as Vinicius de Moraes, Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, and Paula Toller. Natasha Productions managed the careers of artists like Caetano Veloso, Lulu Santos, Daniela Mercury, Adriana Calcanhotto, Bebel Gilberto, Titãs, and Marina Lima.
Connie Lopes has produced memorable international events, such as the “Viva Brasil em Paris” concert at Place de la Bastille in 2005, during the Year of Brazil in France, featuring artists like Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben Jor, Seu Jorge, and Lenine, and releasing a DVD directed by Andrucha Waddington.
In 2006, she organized the “Copa da Cultura” in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, featuring exhibitions, films, debates, concerts, and readings during the World Cup in Germany.
Alongside Angolan writer José Eduardo Agualusa and entrepreneur Fatima Otero, she co-founded the publishing house Língua Geral, which published 80 titles by Lusophone writers between 2006 and 2010.
In 2009, she created the Back2Black Festival, the largest festival dedicated to Black culture in Latin America, featuring music, arts, and conferences. The festival has had 11 editions in Brazil and one in London.
Between 2010 and 2012, Connie Lopes was also responsible for curating and producing events for Expo Shanghai on behalf of APEX Brasil, Casa Brasil in South Africa during the World Cup, and Viradão Carioca for the Rio de Janeiro City Hall.
Between 2013 and 2016, she organized four editions of the Fado Festival in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, featuring artists such as Mariza, Ana Moura, Carminho, and Camané.
She also produced the Portuguese Popular Saints Festival in Rio de Janeiro, with three days of celebrations at Praça XV and Paço Imperial (2016) and at Armazém 6 do Cais do Porto (2017).
In 2022 and 2023, she organized the IRIS Festival in Rio de Janeiro (Parque Lage) and São Paulo (Jardim Botânico), an innovative event merging art, spirituality, ecology, and social movements.
In 2024, she launched the Multicultural Festival “Fado in Historic Cities” in Petrópolis (RJ) and Ouro Preto (MG), featuring attractions in music, history, poetry, and gastronomy.
Connie Lopes has been a Counselor for Portugal in the World at the Portuguese Diaspora Council since January 2025.
