Catarina has a degree in Law from the University of Cologne, Germany, with a special emphasis on Tax Law.
From 2018 to February 2020, Catarina carried out several legal professionalization internships in Aachen, Cologne and Lisbon. After graduating in law, she practiced law at a law firm specializing in business succession and foundations.
Since 2021, Catarina dos Santos is a Member of the German Federal Parliament (Deutschen Bundestag); full member of the Commissions for Digitization and European Union Affairs; alternate member of the Legal Committee and the Subcommittee on European Law; member of the Council of Europe; member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly; Vice President of the Portugal-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group.
She is also Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) party in the urban region of Aachen, member of the City Council of the city of Eschweiler.
Catarina is a Member of the Luso-German Association of Jurists (DLJV) and a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, since December 2022.
