Carlos Loureiro currently holds the position of Senior Manager of Customer Support and Strategic Operations at Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), one of the world’s leading aircraft engine manufacturers. With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, she ensures alignment with the company’s vision and liaises with Executive Management, leading a dedicated team of aviation specialists responsible for providing technical and strategic support to a global fleet of more than 300 aircraft equipped with PW800 engines. Under his management, the team ensures not only operational and commercial efficiency, but also customer satisfaction, contributing to the excellence of P&WC’s services worldwide.
From an early age, his fascination with aviation has been the driving force behind his dedication and professional success.
Carlos has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Beira Interior (UBI), a private pilot’s licence from the Aeroclube de Viseu and several technical courses specialising in engines and aircraft (Dassault, Gulfstream, PZL, Rolls-Royce and P&WC).
He began his career in aviation in 1997 with a private aeroplane pilot’s course at the Aeroclube de Viseu, taking part in aerial forest surveillance operations during the summer.
In 2002, he worked as Engineering Manager at Helibravo, a helicopter operator based in Tires, where he was responsible for the engineering department, developing aircraft maintenance programmes, analysing and controlling technical documentation, being the focal point with the Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) and coordinating a team of maintenance technicians to ensure the quality, safety and airworthiness of the helicopter fleet operated by Helibravo.
Between 2004 and 2006, he worked at Airluxor, a commercial airline operator, in the Maintenance Engineering department, as maintenance coordinator for the Airbus A320 and A330 fleet, liaising with the aircraft & engine manufacturer/APU, analysing and controlling technical documents, periodic inspections, budget management and coordinating with external maintenance organisations (SR Technics, Lufthansa, Sabena Technics).
From 2006 to 2012 he was Engine Manager at NetJets, a business aviation operator with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft, responsible for the technical and commercial support of engines in service and in the workshop, budget management, development of maintenance programmes and engineering documents, safety, performance and reliability, compliance with Civil Aviation Authority regulations and the focal point with engine manufacturers.
In 2013, he began his journey at P&WC in Canada as a Customer Engineer, participating in the technical development of engine components, the creation of maintenance manuals and technical documentation (MSG-3), engineering support in technical analysis and decisions, budget management, bench tests and test flights for P&WC’s new PW814GA & PW815GA engines. From 2016 he led the commissioning of the PW814GA/15GA engines, coordinating various departments and in collaboration with the aircraft manufacturer. Since 2020, he has held the position of Senior Manager of Customer Support and Strategic Operations for PW800 engines, being responsible for a team of 15 aviation professionals and coordinator of technical maintenance teams that provide 24/7 support to a fleet of more than 300 aircraft in service around the world, equipped with PW800 engines.
In 2017, he was awarded patent number 9550581, which introduces an innovative concept for installing a protective cover in the engine inlet and outlet area. This invention aims to increase the safety and operation of the covers, preventing the ingress of debris and bad weather, reducing the risk of failure and extending the life of the motors. In addition, the solution facilitates installation and maintenance, making processes faster and safer. The granting of this patent represents a milestone in the advancement of technologies applied to the support of PW800 engines.
Carlos Loureiro has been a full member of the Order of Engineers (Southern Region) since 2004.
Carlos Loureiro has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since December 2024.
