Born in the municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto, António Sousa has a degree in agronomy from the University of Santiago de Compostela and the Ponte de Lima School of Agriculture. He also obtained a postgraduate qualification in local development at UTAD.
He began his professional career working in science, developing research projects in the field of organic fertilisers. In 2008, António took on a professional project in Romania in the area of agribusiness, which allowed him to deepen his knowledge of production, trading in agricultural commodities and, above all, business development. Since 2016, he has been responsible for ASCENZA’s (formerly SAPEC AGRO) business in the Balkans, mainly in Romania (where they already have a subsidiary) but also in Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova and Cyprus.
António Sousa has been a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council since 2023.
