The Portuguese Diaspora Council hosted the 4th Annual Meeting, on December 22, 2016, at Palácio da Cidadela in Cascais, with the presence of many of the Portuguese Counselors and national institutional personalities.
The opening session had the presence of the President of the Board, Filipe de Botton, and the Minister of the Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, has Honorary Vice-President the Council. The closing session was made by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Honorary President the Portuguese Diaspora Council.
The two debate themes were:
- “Managing in the Digital Era”, where the artificial intelligence and machine learning was discussed, the direct impact in economy and society in a short and medium term. This panel had the participation of the Counselors Manuela Veloso, Pedro Domingos and Pedro Pires de Miranda, and was moderated by Duarte Vasconcelos.
- “The Cultural Diplomacy and the Diaspora Role”, a new approach in the promotion of the Portuguese culture and art in the world, through many cultural elements – gastronomy, cinema, music, paint, sculpture, among others. This panel had the participation of the Counselors Pedro Gadanho, Paulo Junqueiro and Ricardo Monteiro, and was moderated by Francisco Seixas da Costa.
